Play in Deer Creek Reservoir

Look at that water! This place looked like a little heaven on earth, and the perfect place to be on a hot summer day!

Overview: Whether you are looking to swim, boat, kayak or paddle board – Deer Creek Reservoir is the perfect place! This State Park has beautiful water with mountain views all around.Look at that water! This place looked like a little heaven on earth, and the perfect place to be on a hot summer day! There were lots of people at this reservoir, but not too many that you couldn’t find a spot in the shade. Do keep in mind that this is a state park, so there is a $10 day-use fee. I did a close up of the water so you could see how clean it was and what kind of beach to expect. As you can see, the beaches are rocky so you will want to bring water shoes and maybe camping chairs to lounge on.

Location: From the intersection of 1200 S, Main Street, Victory Hwy and 189 in Heber, UT, head southwest on 189 for 5.3 miles until you reach the Deer Creek Island Resort turnoff. To go to the additional pavilions and loading dock, travel 2.0 miles further southwest. To get to the Chokecherry Campground area, continue on 189 for 2.8 more miles.

From the mouth of Provo Canyon near Orem, UT, travel up Provo Canyon (189) for 11.6 miles to the Chokecherry Campground area, 14.4 miles to the additional pavilion area, and 16.4 miles to the Deer Creek Island Resort . (Note that 189 bends around the southeast-most part of Deer Creek Reservoir, which just out to the east). Continue on 2.0 more
